From 2010 through 2013, the four powerhouses and dams on the Clackamas River – River Mill, Oak Grove, Faraday and North Fork – were visited by groups of talented artists for one-day art jams. The Estacada Arts Commission collaborated with PGE on this multi-year art and community-building project. It was an exciting way to celebrate the history, geography, industry and natural beauty of our community through the work of local visual artists, writers, actors, musicians and historians.

During an art jam, up to 15 local and regional professional visual artists were allowed guided access to a PGE powerhouse, spending a day taking photographs, sketching or painting aspects of these historical, functioning industrial sites. Three or four months later, the Arts Commission displayed the work created from this day at art shows in the community and region. This project was recognized by The pARTnership Movement of Americans for the Arts as an example of how the arts can help build a company’s image.

This is an exhibit of favorite work selected by 24 of the artists who participated over the years. Enjoy!
