“Oak Grove and Three Lynx Composite”

by Boyd Holloway

I hope that this composite of photographs shows how the experience of being at Oak Grove for me was not just about the powerhouse, but also about the feeling of a close-knit community of workers and their families that emerged after visiting Three Lynx.

The clever swing shows me that it was constructed to allow one child to be on the board as another person pulled the rope to make it swing.

Their fire protection consisted of a hose box and water pipe by each home.

The homes are brightly painted, giving a feeling of joy and love.

The powerhouse with all its dials, gauges, pumps, cranes and turbines demonstrated a unique way of generating electricity, without a dam or fish ladder, allowing the Clackamas River to run freely.
