“At a Certain Distance”
by Zeb Andrews
The two elements that impressed me the most in my time at the Three Lynx Community were the evidence of human presence that remains even long after a place has become deserted and the distance between those presences. The Three Lynx community itself is relatively isolated, but even within the community there was a sense of isolation despite the close proximity of the homes. Standing in an abandoned bedroom, where most of the furniture had been removed though a dresser and curtains still remained (scant evidence of the people who once dwelt there and their lives and dreams), I could stare out the window at the other homes and feel that distance between our lives and theirs. It was the essence of those two elements that I hoped to translate in this image.
